Emmy Award-winning actor Peter Macon (Oregon Shakespeare Festival) and John Cothran (Eastbound and Down; The West Wing; Get Shorty; Boyz n the Hood) make their Portland theatre debuts in King Hedley II, one of August Wilson’s darkest works. Set in the mid-1980’s in a Pittsburgh plagued by desperation, blight, and drive-by shootings, King Hedley II tells the story of a man and his community struggling to reconcile with the past and build for the future. Join us for the fourth in Portland Playhouse’s acclaimed exploration of August Wilson’s oeuvre, which has also included Gem of the Ocean, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Radio Golf.

- The Oregonian
“The cast masterfully harnesses Wilson’s fiery poetry, seamlessly moving from playful banter to gritty, rapturous disquisitions on present-day injustices and the profound weight of history.”
