Damian Thompson

At the tender age of 9, Damian moved with his family from their home in Jamaica to Miami, FL. He was instantly placed in speech classes to rid him of his accent. As a result of the pressure to alter his way of speaking, he developed a chronic stutter. Through his involvement in the arts, mainly theatre, he garnered the necessary tools to overcome this obstacle. Damian went on to receive a BFA and MFA in theatre from the University of Evansville and the University of Delaware. He now makes his home in New York City and has worked in dozens of theatres both in New York and around the country; including the Classical Theatre of Harlem, the Colorado and Pennsylvania Shakespeare theatres, and Kentucky Repertory Theatre in plays as diverse as The Mad Woman of Chaillot, The Merchant of Venice, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and The Hostage. Damian loves to travel. He used to frequently dream that he’d sneak his uncle’s car and drive it around, having adventures, and slip back home just in time. When he’d awaken in the morning, he was never sure if the dream was real or not. Damian loves a spicy Jambalaya.
