Salim is a self described Army brat who grew up all over the country. He got attacked by the acting bug when his best friend dragged him to an audition of Godspell. He was offered the lead. When he went home to tell his mom she revealed to him that theatre had been a major part of her past and that she had started and run a theatre company before he was born: theatre was in his bones. During college he had a mad crush on a dance instructor and got really good in order to impress her -so good that when he moved to Philadelphia he was able to make his way in musical theatre in shows like Hair, Candide, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Magic Flute. Seven years ago, music drew him to Portland where he has plays the conga, djembe, drumming kit and other hand percussion. Salim’s life has parallels to The Brother/Sister plays: he was a sprinter state champion three years running -still the fastest man in Kentucky- jus sayin. In his recurring dream he’s on a mission to get to his old apartment in Philly. It’s nighttime and he finally finds the secret room where he can feel most himself. Macaroni and cheese mmmmm.
