ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

CYCERLI ASH –  became the first woman to earn a black belt in hapkido under the direction of grandmaster Shelton Moreland that’s been training students for over 50 years. She has been training over 7 years in this specific style. In high school Cycerli dominated in track and field. She was state champion in the shot put and went on to receive a track scholarship from Rutgers University. During college she competed and became Big East champion in the discus at UConn in 2006 and still holds the record in the event at Rutgers University. Staying active she went to the University of Tennessee for her Master’s in acting and took other classes such as Tai chi. Cycerli chose to study hapkido because it is a very specific technique that is easy on the joints but very effective when protecting yourself from an attack of any kind.
