Día de los Muertos

Created & Directed by Blanca Forzán

Monday, November 2, 2026

Through movement, storytelling, music, and ritual, a mother and child build a Día de los Muertos altar before our eyes – unpacking flowers, photographs, memories, and children’s shoes along the way. As symbols of violence are transformed into vessels of beauty and remembrance, the piece asks us to consider what we choose to carry forward in the face of unimaginable loss.

A moving meditation on childhood, grief, love, and transformation, Day of the Dead reminds us that even in the presence of death, we can choose to create flowers from destruction and keep memory alive.

This production is dedicated to the memory of children who have died as a result of war.

Assistant Directed by Brian Weaver; Scenic Design by Julieth Navarro; Featuring Amelia Zirin-Brown (AKA Rizo) & Tennyson Rayment
