Andrea Vernae
School Programs Manager
Andrea Vernae is a multidisciplinary artist devoted to witnessing and cultivating freedom through the art of storytelling. A proud alumna of Florida A&M University, a Historically Black College and University, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance before moving to Portland in 2015 as an Acting Apprentice with Portland Playhouse.
Since then, Andrea has graced stages across the city — including Portland Playhouse, Portland Center Stage, Artists Repertory Theatre, and CoHo Productions, among others. From 2016 to 2020, she also served as Managing Director of Confrontation Theatre, a company dedicated to amplifying Black voices and stories.
Now, Andrea returns to her roots in theatre education as School Programs Manager at Portland Playhouse. Having first discovered her passion for theatre in high school, she hopes to spark that same inspiration in students — empowering them to explore, express, and experience freedom through performance.
